Project Description
Still Waters Run Deep was an exploratory research project led by Brigitte Jurack that employed automated stereo-lithography and hand-modelling techniques to interpret data derived from recently developed floodplain topography survey systems, including GIS/LiDAR and ultrasound mapping technologies. The project was undertaken collaboratively with the Research Centre for Environmental Change and Management and the Spatial Analysis Research Group. My contribution involved developing advanced spatial analysis techniques to generate 3D volumetric models of flooded areas in STL format, which were subsequently used to produce stereo-lithographic objects.
The project combined:
- Spatial analysis of historical flood extent data
- 3D terrain modelling for flood inundation visualisation
- 3D volumetric models of flooded areas in STL format
- Stereo-lithographic objects
The research led to the production of a number of distinct sculptures, drawings and a digital animation.
