Dial-A-POI

Project Description

Dial-A-POI was a location-based services (LBS) platform developed at Eratosthenes S.A. for retrieving Points of Interest from a user’s current location via mobile interfaces.

The system comprised:

• A spatial database of 50,000+ POIs across Greece (restaurants, pharmacies, hospitals, ATMs, etc.)
• A Object C process for serving POI data with proximity search (nearest-N and radius queries)
• A mobile interface for on-the-go location queries

The project was an early commercial implementation of LBS technology in Greece, predating the widespread adoption of smartphone mapping applications.
